Our continued double-digit growth has resulted in us moving to a larger office space (yet to be announced), and we are looking to expand our team of nine professionals. This position requires a CPA designation and at least five years of public practice experience.
This role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on involvement in complex assurance and tax engagements. As an ideal candidate, you work efficiently and are adept at preparing and reviewing compilation, review, and audit engagements, with a thorough understanding of financial reporting frameworks for Canadian not-for-profit organizations, private enterprises, and Indigenous communities.
You are comfortable completing and reviewing engagements with minimal supervision, communicating effectively with clients, and mentoring team members at all levels. You have exceptional attention to detail, take pride in producing high-quality work, and are mindful of budgets and deadlines. Responsibilities
- • Review assurance, compilation, bookkeeping, and tax engagements prepared by staff to ensure compliance with professional standards and firm quality requirements.
- • Manage engagements by overseeing timelines, budgets, workflow, and client communications.
- • Prepare and review complex assurance engagements, including audits, reviews, and compilations.
- • Prepare and review complex tax engagements, including personal, corporate, charity, and partnership tax returns.
- • Assist the Partners with special consulting and advisory projects.
- • Mentor, coach, and train junior staff.
- • Build and maintain trusted client relationships through responsive and professional communication.
- • Contribute positively to the firm’s culture and ongoing development.
Who We’re Looking For
- • CPA designated in Canada with 5+ years of public practice experience.

Responsibilities
Bookkeeping and Accounting Support (Approximately 70%)
- • Perform bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients using QuickBooks Online.
- • Post transactions from bank and credit card activity reports including utilizing QBO features to set up auto-add rules and attach supporting documentation.
- • Prepare bank, credit card, loan, and other account reconciliations.
- • Review general ledger activity and investigate discrepancies.
- • Prepare payroll and other related payroll tasks.
- • Prepare and file GST/HST, PST, payroll, EHT, WorkSafeBC and other government remittances.
- • Assist clients with bookkeeping inquiries and software-related questions.
- • Maintain organized client records and supporting documentation.
Personal and Corporate Tax (Approximately 20%)
- • Prepare T1 personal income tax returns.
- • Prepare T4 and T5018 slips and summary returns.
- • Assist with preparation of corporate income tax returns and supporting schedules.
- • Prepare CRA correspondence and respond to client inquiries.
- • Identify potential issues and bring them to the attention of senior staff.
Compilation Engagements (Approximately 10%)
- • Assist with preparation of year-end working papers for compilation engagements under CSRS 4200.
- • Reconcile accounts and prepare adjusting journal entries.
- • Assist with drafting financial information and related schedules.
- • Communicate with clients regarding information requests and outstanding items.
Who We’re Looking For
- • Diploma or degree in accounting, business, or a related field, or equivalent bookkeeping experience.
- • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- • Comfortable using technology and learning new software applications.
- • Strong organizational and time management skills.
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- • Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
- • Experience with QuickBooks Online and TaxCycle is considered an asset but not required.
- • Previous bookkeeping or public practice experience is considered an asset.
